Q
What is the difference between a beginner surf lesson and private surf guiding?
A
Private Beginner Surf Lesson: For first-time and beginner surfers. Sessions are normally held around Aoshima Beach, where smaller waves are better suited to learning. Meet and finish locally in Aoshima. Surfboard and wetsuit are included.
Private Surf Guiding: For surfers who want to explore the best available waves in Miyazaki for their ability. The surf location is selected according to wave quality, swell, wind, tides, crowds and safety. Transportation from your accommodation or Miyazaki Airport can be included, while equipment rental is separate. Full-day guiding may also include lunch, breaks or sightseeing within the scheduled time.
Q
Is transportation available?
A
Transportation is included with Private Surf Guiding and can be arranged from accommodation in Miyazaki City or Miyazaki Airport, depending on the booking and schedule.
Beginner lessons and surf coaching normally meet and finish in the Aoshima area. Transportation within Miyazaki City may be available from ¥1,500 each way. For two guests, the total is ¥2,000 each way. Availability depends on location and timing, so please ask when booking.
Q
Where do I collect and return rental surfboards and wetsuits?
A
Collection and return take place at the ANA Holiday Inn Resort Miyazaki, 1F Activity Center in Aoshima.
Opening hours: 9:00–17:00.
For collection or return outside these hours, please contact us in advance. We may be able to assist depending on the situation.
TEL: 0985-65-1555
Q
What should I bring?
A
You do not need to bring any special equipment. A simple swimsuit worn under the wetsuit makes changing easier. We provide bath towels or ponchos, sunscreen, petroleum jelly, beach sandals and warm water after surfing.
Q
Is there an age limit?
A
There is no fixed age limit. Guests should be able to communicate with the instructor and be healthy enough for physical activity. For young children or older guests, participation may not be possible when wind or waves are too strong.
Q
Is surfing dangerous?
A
Surfing takes place in a natural environment, so the risk of injury cannot be completely eliminated. We select the safest suitable conditions available on the day. Guests who would like additional protection are encouraged to arrange appropriate personal travel or activity insurance before participating.
Q
Can guests with disabilities participate?
A
We will do our best to adapt the experience wherever reasonably possible. Please contact us before booking and tell us about the assistance or arrangements you may need.
Q
Which languages are available?
A
Services are available in Japanese and English. Korean website information is also available; please contact us in advance if you need help communicating during your booking.
